Will I still get those benefits , such as performance improvement ?

My understanding (please correct me if I am wrong) is v2.0 will rely on Roslyn to supply some metadata of the code. If I do not have Roslyn installed, how will this impact v2.0's working?

We're using Roslyn across the board and therefore you can expect it to perform much better in all versions of Visual Studio, including VS2012! That being said, Enhanced Mode is still required in order to take full advantage of "Simplify" in VS2012 and VS2010. If you're using VS2010 or VS2012 and don't want to pay the performance cost of Enhanced Mode, you can stick with Standard Mode, and still get 95% of what OzCode has to offer, including all of the features we've shown in this blog post.

Comment on OzCode v2.0 Beta is out! by Rik Hemsley

New stuff is great, but does the fact that enhanced mode is still needed in 2012 mean that you're using NRefactory in 2012? Because with enhanced mode enabled, my app's running quite slowly in the debugger.

Comment on OzCode v2.0 Beta is out! by Omer Raviv, CTO, OzCode

Thanks everyone for your kind words! :)

@Alex & @Bradley - No, VB.NET is not yet supported. However, the good news is that the switch to Roslyn should make this a lot easier.

@Harold - Actually, we're working on something special in terms of swag. Could you drop us a line on the Support form so we could send it to you?

@Janus - Yes, OzCode v1,0's performance does degrade on huge solutions (hundreds of projects) but in v2.0, you should feel a very large improvement.

@Terry - No, we didn't branch out into two separate code bases, even though that seemed like a very real (and painful) possibility during development. In the end, after a lot of R&D, we succeeded in keeping just one code base for all versions. While it's the same code base, there is a big difference in how OzCode works in VS2015 versus previous versions; in VS2015, Visual Studio is maintaining its own parsing and semantic analysis data anyways, so OzCode doesn't have to manufacture its own. This mean that in VS2015, OzCode v2.0's performance impact on huge solutions will go from negligible to non-existent.

@Marcin - Remote debugging support is definitely a scenario we really care about and want to support. The Roslyn change is supposed to hepl us get there, as well as support other scenarios we currently don't but want to in the future (UnityVS development, Xamarin development, etc).

@Tarun Arora - VS2015 support is coming very soon. Unfortunately our Pull Request changes did not not make it in time for CTP6, but we plan to add support shortly after the next update from Microsoft.

Comment on OzCode v2.0 Beta is out! by Tarun Arora

Any plans to support VS 2015?

Comment on OzCode v2.0 Beta is out! by Marcin

It looks great!
